I came across this very disturbing video on YouTube. We are led to believe that killing animals for meat is in essence pain and stress free for the animals. We are told that the abattoirs operate under strict laws that ensure humane slaughter.
Secret filming of just three English slaughterhouses by Animal Aid has exposed humane slaughter as a sham. The footage was shot over a six month period starting in January 2009. What was filmed has been condensed into a shocking 10-minute video that you should find disturbing.
Being a carnivore I chose to believe that animals in the United Kingdom are protected by law and are not subject to cruelty. As this movie shows nothing is further from the truth. I am seriously considering becoming vegetarian and have already at least halved the meat I eat.
