Joe Arpaio, the vicious, cruel and corrupt Sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona is a symbol of a society that has become infected with hatred and fear. Arpaio’s brand of ‘law enforcement’ is now becoming commonplace not only within the United States but wherever the US has or attempts to grab control. It’s infected the police [...] The creeping domination of “don’t be evil” Internet company Google of the Internet has now become so worrying that people and governments are questioning their motives. Nobody who is serious about using the internet for business, pleasure or campaigning can avoid using many of Google’s services. “The flimsiest of evidence was allowed to stand because her defence lawyer, one of the worst in recent American history, failed to see her until two weeks before the trial. He was so disinterested in the case, he failed to interrogate prosecution witnesses and to call to the stand those who would most certainly have saved Linda’s life.” One particular case is in the spotlight, that of Steven Butler who on October 7, 2006 was Tasered three times by a cop in his home town of Watsonville, California. Steven suffered cardiac arrest and his brain was starved of oxygen. He is now permanently disabled. A kid directing traffic at New York’s JFK airport. Probably got his training on a Playstation. On ABC News February 14, former Vice President Dick Cheney boasted, “I was a big supporter of waterboarding”. In the interview he confessed to being a key player in the commission of war crimes during the Bush administration. I know, I’m having a rant, but the total disregard for human rights just makes me so mad. Now I am not suggesting that all cops are ignorant, sadistic low-life. But the more I research, the more I read and almost every time I come into contact with cops (yes, here in England too) even to ask directions I have to conclude that a good cop is an exception. La Oroya boasts a dirty American-owned smelter that has operated there since 1922. The metal smelter is run by the Missouri-based Doe Run Corporation and has reneged on it’s contractual promises to clean up it’s processes. Profit always comes before peoples health and well-being. Doe Run doesn’t give damn about the environment or the people who live in this area. They wouldn’t get away with it in the United States or Europe but in a ‘third-world’ country anything goes. Capitalism has no morality! There have been deaths wherever Tasers are used but in the United States it is an epidemic. Cops in the US are just plain crazy and because they are never been held accountable they continue to abuse the people they are employed to serve. |
