Gaza - The Massacre Of The Innocents

The above headline is translated from the Portuguese “O Massacre Das Inocentes” and was the caption used on the photo below in a Brazilian publication Veja. The caption said it all “As cinco irm?s mortas num campo de refugiados”. These five sisters died in a refugee camp.

These five little girls were not Hamas fighters. Five innocents who just wanted to play and be happy. Five children killed by ISRAEL – THE NEW NAZIS.

UPDATE Feb, 2010: To call Israel Nazis was wrong. Some elements of the IDF and the Government are guilty of war crimes and should face prosecution but I was wrong to describe Israel so. This is an unequivocal apology to the Israeli people. Let’s all work for peace.

  • Thank you for your comment Mr Shore,

I agree Israelis are not Nazis but their government and armed forces are acting like Nazis. I also agree that Hamas even though it is the democratically elected government is guilty of similar human rights abuses albeit on a smaller scale.

With regard to your claim that “Israel has taken extraordinary measures to avoid civilian casualties in Gaza” the evidence contradicts your statement. Using illegal weapons such as white phosphorous on civilians is hardly ‘extraordinary avoidance’.

With regard to your claims that Hamas “goes out of its way to make sure its own citizens do get killed” where is your evidence of that? Those little girls were killed in a refugee camp. There is no excuse for shelling or bombing a refugee camp – ever!

If you read the article in Vega you’ll see the facts for yourself. Israel’s actions against Gaza have been universally condemned. Why? Because their actions are disproportionate, immoral and illegal.

  • T. Shore

Israelis are not Nazis. Israel is a country that will no longer tolerate random attacks on its civilians. Israel has the right and obligation to protect its citizens. Israel has taken extraordinary measures to avoid civilian casualties in Gaza, while Hamas – the elected government in Gaza – goes out of its way to make sure its own citizens do get killed. And, when they don’t get killed, Hamas will exaggerate the death toll. This is all done to demonize Israel. Who knows exactly what happened to these 5 little girls? Whatever it was, it is extremely sad. Even if Israeli weapons killed these children, you can be assured that Hamas is to blame. Were these little girls used as human shields? Did Hamas launch a rocket into Israel from right beside their home? Did Hamas terrorists hide in their home? Did the Israelis warn the family to get out of a dangerous combat area, only to have Hamas force them to stay put? I think it’s irresponsible to post a horrific photo like this without researching the facts first.
