These stupid cops! They are called to an address in Boise City, Idaho, USA to investigate an alleged entry and occupation of a house against the owner’s will. It is alleged the police did not identify themselves and forced their way into the house. The suspect, Gerald Amidon, was inside trying patch it up with his girlfriend and, according to him, not knowing who was at the door he tried to prevent them entering.
Putting aside the allegation that the police didn’t identify themselves they were there lawfully and could probably have settled the matter without incident had they used their brains instead of their weapons. But, it seems police are out-of-control the world over and can’t resist getting their (lethal) Taser toy out and acting like Rambo.
Gerald Amidon is to face charges, as yet undisclosed, and could possibly have been prosecuted even if the incident had been dealt with in a sensible way. Now three police officers and a superintendent could find themselves in the dock. Let’s not hold our breath though because despite already receiving a damning report from the Boise Ombudsman history tells us that bad cops get away with it.
The audio tape of the arrest indicates that it was Boise Police Officer Guy McKean who stunned Amidon at least two times, and threatened to shock him further on his “asshole” and “balls.” “If you move again, I’m going to stick this Taser up your ass and pull the trigger,” Officer Guy McKean said. “Now, do you feel this in your ass I’m going to Tase your balls if you move again.”
Later, a police supervisor erased a taped interview with the suspect and never completed a required report on the use of force in the arrest. It is reported that all officers involved in this outrage are still on active duty.
The following are shocking excerpts from the audio tape of the arrest:
“You feel this?” “Yes.” “You feel that, that’s my taser on your ***.” “OK.” said Officer 3 to suspect.
And ……
“If you look again, I am going to stick this taser up your *** and pull the trigger.” “I am sorry.” Do you understand it?” “Yes, I do.”
“Now do you feel this on your *****?” “I am not going to move, I am not going to move.” “I am going your ***** if you move again,” said suspect and officer.
“Okay, I am going to take this taser out of your *******. Are you going to fight with me?” “No, no, OK,” said suspect and officer.
Here’s the audio tape:
Should Tasers Be Banned?
I invite you to comment on this story and the whole issue of the use of Tasers by the police. What’s your opinion? Should they be banned? Should only well-trained officers have them? There are so many questions and I will be posting a lot more reports including videos of Taser abuse in the near future.

Thanks for commenting, you are are right we need to campaign for the removal of bad cops so that the good cops can catch the bad guys unhindered. There is no easy solution but every voice counts.
This is disturbing stuff. While I don’t per say think tasers or guns should be banned, I think any cop who not only abuses his/her authority but also clearly violates the law and is in essence a criminal, should immediately be removed from the force and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Maybe even prosecuted fuller than the average citizen, as his/her knowledge of the law, knowledge of right and wrong, is the very nature of the job one that he/she is sworn to uphold – compared to the average citizen.
I read an article in the New Yorker once that bad cops make up about 2 – 10% of any given police force – but it’s the policeman’s unions that stand in the way of these criminals being eliminated from employment. The only way this is going to change is if citizens make this an issue on the campaign trail, but first they need to be informed of all the corruption out there, and the scale of which it is a problem.
Thanks ghoztzohg for commenting. It’s always good to have comments and you are right this issue needs wider publicity. Hopefully my efforts will make a difference but unfortunately my blog isn’t read by a sufficient number of people to make a significant impact on it’s own. I need people to spread the word – in forums, Twitter, social network sites etc. Let’s make this campaign a winner – take action, spread the word.
~sickening…but thank you for posting this…people need to know…about bad cops…about taser abuse (the norm?! I was threatened with a taser while in a hospital illegally handcuffed sitting on a couch so low I could hardly even get out of it…Why?…because I tried to correct what hospital security was telling the police and the police only want one side of the story) …police brutality/abuse has gone ballistic and we need people like you to keep letting us know…it’s a mess…thank god for the audio recordings…interesting how the taped interview conveniently ‘disappeared’…”the system” encourages this b.s. because it doesn’t punish – or allow the victims to punish – these crimes…and yes…the right word is crimes!
