Police Taser Brutality: Pregnant Woman Tasered At Baptism Party

Out-of-control Prince William County Police responded to a noise complaint at a child’s back yard baptism party. The party was peaceful and children’s laughter could be heard above the music.

The 55-year-old home-owner is a church family counsellor and a bible study teacher. He was hosting a party for his new godchild. Now he and the pregnant mother of the baptised boys face serious charges.

Relatives say the police used excessive force just to quieten down the backyard party. The home-owner Edgar Rodriguez, says the celebration came to an abrupt halt when his 55-year-old father, Edgar Rodriguez, Sr. was asked for an ID. But Rodriguez Sr. doesn’t speak English. His son had to interpret for him in the above news video. So there’s a good chance he didn’t understand what the cops were asking. He handed it over but the cops Tasered him three times anyway.

The pregnant mother of the baptised boys was Tasered as well for trying to help Rodriguez, Sr who was on the ground. She was charged with assaulting a police officer. “They Tasered her in the back. She didn’t assault officer. She was assaulted by the officer,” said Edgar, Jr. who was short distance away from his father.

The 25-year-old pregnant woman remains in custody tonight separated from her family. After her arrest she was detained by immigration and customs enforcement. The family says that after hearing about the incident, the police chief has ordered an internal affairs investigation.

These people were not threatening the cops, were unarmed and the video shows that the party was not disorderly. How the hell can they arrest a man for being drunk in his own backyard? Typically police always trump up a charge of ‘disorderly conduct’ or ‘assaulting a police officer’ just to get off on their power trip. I suspect race was an issue here too.

Should Tasers Be Banned?
