World Aids Day. Two pills, 50 cents (30p) a day and deaths can be prevented. So why is not happening? South Africa has the largest population of people infected with HIV in the world and in many cases children of parents infected with the virus are left orphaned. Today is World Aids Day. In Thailand there are thought to be almost 5-million people living with HIV. The Thais have tackled the problem with education and access to anti-retroviral drugs. “You can’t resolve AIDS with the distribution of condoms … On the contrary, it increases the problem” says Pope. |
