Torture can never be justified and it is also proved beyond doubt that information can be obtained more effectively by humane interrogation techniques. Bush and his cohorts have done irreparable damage to the reputation of the USA. But much worse they inflicted unlawful pain and degradation on people who are by definition innocent until proved guilty. And most were not guilty of anything!
The first 100 days of Mr Obama’s term in office is a unique opportunity for America to reclaim its role as a leader for human rights. In February Amnesty International will present a global petition to President Obama. It will urge the US Administration to establish an independent commission to investigate abuses committed by the US Government in its “war on terror”.
Hey, I´ve got an idea! Why don´t we ask Bush and his mobsters to come down the CIA HQ “to help with our enquiries”, waterboard them all (after all it´s torture – they said so) and when they admit guilt render them to Texas and execute them with a lethal injection (because it isn´t painful – they said so)?
