The G7 Nations have announced that the aid Haiti has been ‘given’ by them is to be ‘forgiven’. Most aid is in fact a loan with interest. Haiti was buried in debt long before the natural disaster that has buried them in rubble. Even if the G7 ‘forgiveness’ does materialise Haiti will still be indebted to the IMF, Venezuela and Taiwan.
According to a Telegraph report French rescuers have found a 17-year-old girl, Darlene Etienne, alive who had been trapped for 15 days.

Haiti has been rocked by a major earthquake, 7.0 magnitude, and thousands are feared dead. Major buildings have collapsed including the presidential palace, the UN headquarters and schools. Many schoolchildren are amongst the dead, injured and missing.
Being such a fan of all things Brazilian I very happy that Brazil has been awarded the privilege of hosting the 2016 Olympic Games.
