These bully-boy police used batons, CS gas and shields against protesters who were neither attacking the police nor being in anyway aggressive. Male officers attacked women who refused to be searched and added the personal date of 1000s of people to a secret database. Today’s march was the start of week-long protests demanding action on poverty, climate change and justice. The groups attending include trade unions, environmentalists, churches and anti-war groups. Placards bearing the slogans “Put People First”, “Jobs, Justice & Climate”, Out Of Iraq and Afghanistan” and “Hang A Banker” were waved by the marchers. |
