Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, Prime Minister, Spain:
My friends we have 5 years to achieve our goal — to stop executions around the world: If we work together it is a goal within our reach.

Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, Prime Minister, Spain: His list of crimes include bombing Kurdish villages with mustard gas, sarin, tabub and VX between 1987 and 1988. It is that up to 5000 Kurds were gassed to death. When the Kurdish resistance continued his troops destroyed thousands of villages and killed an estimated 180,000 Kurds. But haning him is wrong. There have been deaths wherever Tasers are used but in the United States it is an epidemic. Cops in the US are just plain crazy and because they are never been held accountable they continue to abuse the people they are employed to serve. The puppet government of Iraq, that wouldn’t last five minutes if the USA wasn’t propping it up with millions of US citizens tax dollars, is considering emptying death row with secret mass executions. China continues to execute individuals convicted by unfair trials despite world-wide condemnation. Calls for open and transparent trials is ignored and hasty hearings where the accused are denied free legal representation are then upheld by equally dubious higher court judgements. I awake this morning to read of the untimely death of a fellow Brit, murdered by the Chinese regime who’s human rights record rivals that of the Nazis. The bravery of the Iranian people just overwhelms me. This cry for help to the world should not go unheeded. Just what can be done isn’t clear and we must not allow the USA or United Kingdom to engage in military action but a solution must be found. The New Russia while very different from the Soviet years has a way to go before the assumed freedom is a reality. This is particularly true with regard to press freedom. I read an interesting and well balanced article in the London Guardian today. It was written by Rebiya Kadeer the president of the World Uighur Congress and author of Dragon Fighter: One Woman’s Epic Struggle for Peace with China (Kales Press, 2009). She compares the history of the African-American civil rights struggle with the emerging Uighur struggles in China. She saw people thrown of bridges, women beaten to a pulp and shooting into the crowds. The religious leaders of Iran are murderers and thieves. They certainly are not Muslims! They are hanging on to power in order to rob from the people. They have millions of dollars stashed away in foreign banks already and will run from the country with as much as they can carry when the regime they have created finally falls. Thousands of people all over world are on death row. Many of them, some estimate 50%, are NOT GUILTY of ANY crime. Wrong and malicious convictions have already condemned too many innocent people to be killed by the state. Tweet This Post Because of the following Amnesty International statement, The Duck Shoot will be publishing a series of posts putting the case for a total ban on executions. Troy Davis faces execution for the murder of Police Officer Mark MacPhail in Georgia, despite a strong claim of innocence. 7 out of 9 witnesses have recanted or contradicted their testimony, no murder weapon was found and no physical evidence links Davis to the crime. Please TAKE ACTION. |
