Brad Will, Human Rights Journalist
Bradley (Brad) Roland Will was an American human rights activist and journalist. He worked with the Indymedia New York centre as a documentary film-maker. It was on an assignment that he was murdered at the age of 36 on October 27, 2006. There was a teachers’ strike in the Mexican city of Oaxaca and he was covering it.
He was only in Mexico for one day and was filming near a pro-strike barricade when he was approached by a police officer and two city officials. He and two other protesters, Esteban Zurita López and teacher Emilio Alonso Fabián, were shot dead by these same Mexican officials. Will was shot twice and several other protesters were injured.
Indymedia people claimed, right from the start, they had proof that the killer was a member of paramilitary group affiliated with the PRI, the former Mexican ruling party. A Mexican daily newspaper El Universal published photos of the gunmen, who are local officials.

Oaxaca Assassins: Juan Carlos Soriano Velasco (Red Tshirt), a police officer known as “the Grasshopper”; Manuel Aguilar (Dark Jacket), city personnel director; Avel Santiago Zárate (Red Shirt) public safety chief.

To date these criminals have not been investigated or arrested. They remain at liberty doing the same jobs they were doing the day they went on the rampage. Call for justice for Brad Will and the protesters killed and injured on that day. Protest to the corrupt city authorities, demand these killers are jailed.
