War Crimes Sri Lanka: Video Of Tamils Being Murdered By Government Troops

Summary executions of bound and naked men by laughing Sri Lankan government troops was videoed on a mobile phone and handed to Channel 4 News by a group called Journalists for Democracy in Sri Lanka. They are not a Tamil organisation but Sinhalese and campaign for press freedom.

It is claimed that the video was shot in January 2009 but my Tamil contacts assert that the murders were committed in June 2009 about a month after the civil war had been declared officially over.

The Sri Lankan government denies the incident happened and say the video is fake. They also deny the numerous atrocities against civilians.

It is not possible to independently verify any stories or claims because the government of Sri Lanka banned foreign and local journalists from the war zone. Only a government that has something to hide does that!
