Who am I?

Destruction and hardship in East London due to the blitz

Destruction and hardship in East London due to the blitz

I was born at the end of World War II and witnessed the devastation the Luftwaffe visited on London. In those days bomb sites were everywhere. As I grew up I learned of the atrocities committed by both the ‘Allies’ and the ‘Enemy’. There is no justice in war; it is the innocents who suffer the most on all sides.

Those early experiences fashioned my thinking and I hoped the world would change. It didn’t of course. Sixty years on and there are still wars, killings, atrocities, torture, lies, corruption, injustice.

Injustice is not exclusive to war either. In civil society there are numerous cases of abuses of power, wrong convictions, corruption by public servants and corporate fraud. This is why I started The Duck Shoot Blog. It is also a demonstration of my belief in the maxim “the pen is mightier that the sword”.

I stand against war, poverty, exploitation and racism. I am for human rights, abolition of the death penalty, equal opportunities, women’s rights and the right of every human to live with dignity and in happiness.
