Back in the city there a few ‘Lan Houses’, public Internet shops, where locals and travellers go to connect. There is fixed-line Internet available but it’s expensive and slow. My friends don’t have it.
The other alternative is a USB modem (a dongle as it is known in the UK) using the cellular phone system. It is not only slow but expensive.
The entire Brazilian mobile telephone and Internet service reminds me of how it was in the bad old days before regulation of the industry in Great Britain. The bigger cities provide faster Internet but not by much.
Now, I am not blaming my lack of posts on the TheDuckShoot entirely on the Brazilian telephone industry. But along with it and enjoying the wonderful scenery (and the partying), sitting down and writing about the woes of the world is like trying to run through water in welly boots.
